Why do we exist?

We're here to help improve our neighborhoods one step at a time. We were inspired to take action when we saw how the west side of La Mesa (especially along University and El Cajon corridors) was filled with empty store fronts and other uninviting areas. We've watched how other parts of La Mesa were slowly improving and becoming a better place to live and thought "let's do our part in helping this process right here in our part of town".

Check out our recent feature in the La Mesa Courier for more information around how we got started!

Upcoming Events

Environmental Scan: Part II
November - December, TBA

It's been almost a year since we conducted our neighborhood environmental scan so we will soon conduct our second one within the next month or so. Environmental scans help us understand what are the problems in our part of town, and it helps us keep track of our impact as we work to address these issues over time. We'll have more details once we finish with our last October event. We'd love your help and we have a number of veterans in the group who can show you how to do it (most people found it fun as well as very interesting, especially once we compiled our results).

Our first clean up event! We'll be meeting at the former 24-Fitness Parking lot at Lowell and University to start our clean up event. Some of us will be picking trash while others will be using the YourGov app to report graffiti and other issues we uncover as we give the area a good clean. We hope to have some Helix High School students join us and it's looking likely Dr. Akilah Weber, who is running for La Mesa City Council will drop by to join us as well as some of the current city council members. Please join us and bring any friend and family who can spare a little time to care for our neighborhood.
